It's a rare day that I actually get to sit at home and veg out. This passed Sunday I was wasting the day away on the sofa - catching up on news and watching movies. Pretty relaxing, but around 2 p.m. I decided I would go out for a drive and scout some locations for possible photo shoots, so I ventured out for Beaufort, South Carolina. I had almost reached Beaufort before I was attracted by signs pointed me towards St. Helena's and Fripp Islands, so I made a right. I had left on my journey a little late and was losing valuable light, however I was able to capture a few images of the sights on my journey toward Fripp Island. I have photographed almost every area of the Low Country Coast except this area, but I definitely need to return when I have more time because there is a whole other world on the islands surrounding Beaufort. These image are of basic things surrounding any coast, but like I said, I didn't have much time to get into the character of the area, that's why I will return ASAP and then post some more interesting photos. Here are a few of my short trip. Enjoy!
As a part of my New Years resolutions I said I was going to take more photo field trips in 2008. Yesterday I decided to take a photo field trip to Sheldon, South Carolina where I would look for the Old Sheldon Church. Thankfully the signage on the roads was pretty good, because I was able to find this jewel of Southern History. The Old Sheldon Church was built in the mid 1700s. It wasburned by theBritish in 1779, and rebuilt in 1826. Unfortunately, it was burned again by General William Sherman in 1865 and was never rebuilt. However, the Sheldon church walls still stand as tall and as strong as the day they were built, and let me tell you this is one sight you have to go visit if you already haven't. I spent three hours respectfully wandering the church grounds, photographing the walls and columns and reading the tombstones. This place is awesone - truly worth the drive to find. It is rumored that a local church i the area still holds a church service there on the sunday after Easter sunday. And even better yet, I here they do allow weddings to be held there...Awesome! I would love to shoot a wedding or bridal session here! It is such a magnificant place that I have plans to return ASAP.
Todd Wood Wedding Magazine
I've been so busy lately I haven't blogged. Today I had an opportunity to catch up on things and inspire myself. I began 2008 with a goal for my photo business that can be summed up in this quote from Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks Coffee, "Dream more than others think practical, and expect more than others think possible." Those words of inspiration helped guide me on my days' inspiration, and thus I came up with my own magazine. Well, a cover for my magazine that doesn't exist nor is it even being planned, but the idea is in my brain and if I were to have my own magazine, this months issue cover would look like this cover (above) I designed in about 10 minutes late this afternoon. What do you think? Please feel free to comment.
Here are some of Harper Brower's (a.k.a. Rocky) images from the photo shoot on Sunday. It was a pleasure working with Leticia (model), Elisha (hair stylist) and Iva (stylist and wardrobe). Rocky and I look forward to working with all three of these lovely ladies in the future.
My photographer friend, Rocky, and myself finished a photo shoot in Richmond Hill yesterday. The weather was perfect, the light tricky, but all in all we had an excellent time with our model Leticia. I had the opportunity to experiment with some new techniques I'm working on for 2008, and I'll have to say after reviewing the images I was pleased with the days work. It also helps when you have a great model like Leticia to work with. Anyway these are a few of the images I captured from the shoot. Check in tomorrow for some of Rocky's work!
